Cambian Potterspury Lodge School is a residential school for young people aged 8-18 who have a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome and other associated difficulties. The successful applicants will need to be highly professional and able to communicate with parents, carers, social workers and a number of other professionals. The role is demanding and will require the successful applicant to be proactive and dynamic in their thinking and the way in which they carry out the job role. The main focus of this role will be to support students in lessons, assist the teacher/tutor in the preparation of work. You will also have to support students during on and off-site activities. Excellent organisation skills are key to the role and will enable the successful applicant to carry out the role to a high standard. We require Teaching Assistants to work as part of the school team under the direction of a qualified Teacher, assisting the students to access a broad curriculum through individual programmes. Essential Skills: Experience of working within an Education setting Excellent communication skills Good literacy and numeracy skills Competent ICT skills Desired Skills: Previous experience of preparing lesson plans Experience in working with students with AS Understanding of positive behaviour support flexibly in relation to tasks undertaken.
