Person Specification
For this Primary Teaching Assistant position we are hoping to meet a hard-working and personable graduate who has a serious desire to forge a career in education as a primary teacher. With excellent numeracy and literacy skills, your organisational and communication ability should be first class; you should be willing to go the extra mile for the children in your care. For this Primary Teaching Assistant role you should hold a 2:1 or better from a well-respected university and be positive and authoritative in your approach.
About the Role
In this Primary Teaching Assistant role you will be working almost exclusively within KS1 in a charming, positive Year 1 class full of potential but struggling at the moment. After a great start, the class fell behind due to the class teacher going on long-term sick leave. They are now back in the swing of things but could certainly use a positive influence in the classroom to facilitate progress. This will give you an unprecedented chance to work on your own skills and techniques so that when the end of your tenure approaches, you will be in the strongest possible position to apply for a PGCE or School Direct placement, perhaps at this very school.
The School
This lovely primary school, located in Croydon, South London, is truly a unique learning environment. A large, exciting school, everyone works hard for each other and the high tempo results in a great natural positivity and a boost in attainment. The school serve a richly diverse catchment and have slightly higher numbers of children with ‘English as an Additional Language’ requirements. From this inclusivity and multiculturalism has been born a positive and nurturing ethos that supports each pupil on their learning pathway through the school.
This is a rare but golden opportunity to ignite your teaching career as a Primary Teaching Assistant and work in a superb London primary school on a long term basis. Click ‘’ to send your CV to Nikki at EduStaff.
