Assistant Headteacher – Early Years / Foundation Stage

Assistant Principal (Early Years Foundation Stage Leader) – Birmingham – Up to L8 (44971)

The Assistant Principal will support the Executive Principal through the leadership and day to day line
management of the Associate Principal and the Deputy Principals, to lead and manage the Academies towards
achieving good and outstanding outcomes for the students, their families, staff and the local community.

We need an Assistant Principal with responsibility for the Early Years Foundation Stage to help guide us in
achieving outstanding success for all of our pupils.

You will lead the early years, driving Improvements, developing staff and ensuring high quality learning, whilst
having opportunity to play an integral role in supporting the development of the academy as part of the leadership
team. You will be encouraged to share and develop your skills in a wellresourced and supportive environment.
You will have high expectations of pupils’ achievements, a strong commitment to giving children the best
possible start in life, and want to work in a truly inclusive, successful and forward-thinking environment.

Key responsibilities
* Teach 0.4 of the timetable
* Lead the Nursery and Reception provision, advising the Executive Principal on teaching methods,
organisation and curriculum
* Develop a well-planned curriculum, working with other staff and external advice, to support the best possible learning by the age of 5
* Develop accurate and manageable assessment methods to ensure all staff know how well their children are doing
* Evaluate the children’s progress and the effectiveness of teaching
* Contribute to the academy’s strategic programmes for improvement
