Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. There will be 850,000 people with dementia in the UK by 2015 with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.

Dementia Advisor
Location: Lambeth – South East London Locality
Salary: £27,353per annum
Hours: 35 per week
Contract type: Fixed Term Contract for 10 months

Across the South East London Locality, Alzheimer’s Society provides a range of information and support services for people affected by dementia including one to one support, dementia cafes, support groups, day support and Singing for the Brain®. Services are delivered by local service teams of staff and volunteers.

The volunteers carry out a range of job roles including direct support for people affected by dementia through groups and cafes and raising awareness.

You will provide support to people with dementia and their carers helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives. You will assist people with dementia and their carers to identify their needs and to access services.

You will possess NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) or have demonstrable experience. You will have an understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers. It is essential that you have experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies
