Project Manager – Fit Out

We are currently looking to recruit a Project Manager for an exciting permanent role, with experience of fit out projects / frameworks in the retail sector for our Midlands based construction client.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record within the industry as a Project Manager, have extensive experience of major contractors and of tendering / delivering construction fit out projects frameworks for major UK retailers such as Tesco, M&S, John Lewis, Waitrose and Boots.

Our client is involved with a number of construction / fit out projects which can be either new build or refurbishment and the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the work is carried out to the highest of standards.

Our client is a leading main contractor with projects ranging to £50 million, across a number of sectors including Retail, Healthcare, Distribution, Industrial and Commercial schemes.

Excellent communication skills will be key as you will be liaising across all levels with junior / senior staff, commercial managers, directors, sub contractors and end-users.

Projects will be on either a design and build / traditional basis for both new build and refurbishment. You will be qualified to degree level or equivalent and have experience at a similar level, or be looking to take the next step on the career ladder.

Requirements:

Manage the client relationships from pre qual tender stages through to final handovers and after care
Managing between 3-5 projects at any given time across the United Kingdom
Programming, design and commercial input
Client meetings and associated issues
Health and Safety plans
Motivating and inspiring the team
Liaising on all levels to ensure effective communication is maintained
Hand over projects on time and to budget and quality
Following all projects through all stages from start to hand over through to final accounts
Communicate effectively in all forms at all levels within the organisation

Applicants will be able to demonstrate a proven experience of leading site delivery teams across high value developments in the retail fit out sector
Experience with the pre qual/tendering phases of all forms of contract
Able to interface with clients and stakeholder’s at all levels
Have experience of a high level of performance management of contractors
Have proven ability to lead, manage and develop a teams
Strong technical knowledge of modern building techniques and methodology’s
Professional membership of recognised institute
Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages e.g. Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Extensive experience of working on live projects
Sound & comprehensive understanding of construction industry and the parties to it
Good knowledge of standard forms of contract
Proficient in reading drawings, specifications and knowledge of construction process
Ability to work in a team environment
Experience of value engineering

The role is to be based on sites throughout the UK and therefore candidates need to be mobile and willing to lodge away. This is an essential requirement.

Membership of a recognised professional body such as the CIOB is desirable. It is essential that you hold a current CSCS card, SMSTS and First Aid certification is desirable.
