Graduate Geotechnical Engineer Required by Gloucester based Contractor

Job Description
A predominantly field based role reporting to the Senior Engineer and the Engineering Manager. The individual must be able to work well on an individual basis taking responsibility for their own projects, work well in a team, be self motivating and be able to balance their various project commitments to achieve the best outcomes for the company.
Primary job roles will include:
Supervising and managing small scale ground investigation contracts.
Logging material from cable percussion drilling, window sampling, dynamic sampling, rotary coring and trial pits.
Taking part in larger ground investigation projects under the supervision of a senior engineer.
Carrying out groundwater and gas monitoring visits.
Processing of information obtained from site.
Factual reporting.
Tendering and invoicing.
Skills Required
A degree in geology, geotechnics or a related subject.
A sound understanding geological principals.
Ability to read and understand geological maps.
A sound understanding of basic soil and rock mechanics.
Ability to visually identify and describe the commonly encountered rock and soil types of the UK.
Conscientious attitude to work and attention to detail.
Knowledge of BS5030+A2 and Eurocode 7 (preferred).
Ability to communicate technical information to clients in a format that is clear and easily understandable.
Ability to use basic Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
Basic literacy and numeracy.
Full clean driving license (essential).
