Senior Mechanical Engineer

Salary: £60,000 – £78,000 per year

As Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be supporting the development and qualification of propulsion products (subsystems and components) throughout their lifecycle with a holistic approach covering requirements analysis, design, manufacture, integration, and test, with strong focus on structural and thermal analysis. Together with

• Being the Mechanical and Thermal subject matter expert, working with a group of multi-disciplinary engineers.
• Manage mechanical and thermal design, with the ability to dig in detail in specific technical problems

To be considered for the role of Senior Mechanical Engineer you will:

• Have considerable commercial experience in the space industry
• Have experience in mechanical design of components and subsystems for space applications, including manufacturing and assembly, material selection, etc.
• Have experience in structural analysis (pressure, vibration, quasi-static, shock) and modelling of components and subsystems.
• Have experience of producing manufacturing drawings for suppliers and manufacturing/assembly instructions for in-house assembly.
• Have good understanding of thermal fundamental principles and ability in modelling thermal systems, including transient processes.
• Have experience in CAD, preferably in CREO or SolidWorks
• Have experience using analysis software like ANSYS, Nastran or ESATAN (but not limited to these).
• Ability to derive mechanical and thermal requirements and constraints
• Be familiar with ECSS standards and practices
• Be familiar with QA processes including inspection, discrepancy reports, traceability, calibration of equipment, etc.
• Have experience in managing work packages, budgets and reporting progress to project management within the company
