Casual Catering Assistant

Salary: £26,000 per year

Manpower are URGENTLY recruiting Casual Catering Assistants for the areas local council

Working hours for the above post will be designed to suit the needs of the service and

will involve working early and late shifts/weekends/Public holidays. Hours will be

offered subject to availability on an ‘as and when required’ basis.

main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Preparation and cooking connected with a full range of meals, includes portion control and function catering.
2. Provide a counter service to customers.
3. Responsible for operation of hygiene and health and safety systems.
4. Cleaning duties e.g. dishes, tables, catering areas, floors and equipment in addition to specialised cleaning
5. Handling cash which will include till transactions, preparation of floats and reconciliation of cash at the end of a shift.
6. Stock control, stock rotation and stock taking and ordering.
7. Deal with customers who have lost money or have not received goods from vending machine.
8. Be responsible for securing the Café area at the end of shift in line with Council’s policy and procedures.
9. Carry out similar duties in any other Council facility if required.
10. Undertake any other relevant duties that may be required and are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.

In addition to the standard pre-employment checks this position will also be subject to receipt of a satisfactory Basic Access NI check

Essential Criteria

• Catering experience

• Ability to work as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to deal with customer complaints
• Excellent customer care skills

Desirable

• Basic food & hygiene cert
• Min 3 months catering experience
• in working with public in a catering business.
• Additional qualifications in catering e.g. NVQ or City & Guilds

Rate of Pay

• £26,000/per year
