Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Directors of Learning, initially leading our Construction and Engineering teams , but with a recognition that the ability to adapt and lead across a range of curriculum areas will be crucial:

Successful candidates will be supported to deliver an excellent student experience from enrolment to destination. Key to the role will be ensuring consistent, ongoing high quality in our teaching learning and assessment, with a focus on high grades and strong outcomes. The new post holder will have the opportunity to further develop our exciting offer and to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of our students and communities. Also, of paramount importance will be to inspire and develop our staff, and to ensure innovation and excellence in our curriculum delivery.

Our successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of curriculum leadership and management including quality improvement to deliver excellent outcomes for learners. Ideally from a GFE College, we are flexible about the curriculum areas and qualifications that you have experience of. What matters to us is that you model leadership with integrity, create and sustain positive working cultures, care passionately about learning and students, and can implement change and development.  This role will provide an excellent developmental opportunity for a candidate with career aspirations to gain a breadth of leadership experience.

 

The successful candidate must have:

  • A full teaching qualification, and a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification
  • Thorough and up to date knowledge of the FE and skills sector including national and local skills drivers.
  • Good understanding of apprenticeships and adult provision
  • Excellent understanding of how data is generated and used to support improvement in FE and the ability to analyse and present this.
  • Good digital skills including the use of cloud-based storage, office packages and Teams.
  • A varied management skill set in leading and supporting an experienced management team.
  • A passion for supporting young people and adults, and the ability to work sensitively and positively when managing interventions and complaints.
  • Experience managing provision across sites.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication
  • Experience in working effectively with peers across complex interdepartmental processes.
