Position: Quality Control Technologist
Location: Southend on Sea, Essex
Salary: £26,000 – £30,000per year

ROLE: 
The highest level of technical standard is fundamental to ourongoing success and weare now looking for an experienced Technologist / Auditor to drive and maintain existing high standards. Friths Flexible packagingCompanies hold BRC / IOP Global Standard for packaging and packaging materials – Supplying Food Packaging Materials for Retailer Branded Products. We also operate a quality management system which complies with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 and hold the FSC standard for chain of custody certification.

As part of a small team you will cover a wide range of duties, including leading, developing and maintaining the quality, hygiene and technical systems to meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 and technical BRC / IOP Global standard. Importantly you willinfluence internal departments to maintain and improve technical production processes, and carry out basic examination and testing of raw materials, in process materials and finished products.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
a) Work directly with the production team to oversee and improve the company quality system in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 Standard.
b) Manage the company hygiene and technical systems in accordance with the requirements of the BRC / IOP Global standard for Food Packaging and other Packaging Materials.
c) Liaise with customers, the local authority and other regulatory bodies as necessary to ensure the company meets its obligations.
d) Ensure that raw materials, in- process materials and finished products meet specified quality standards. Make regular checks throughout all stages of production.
e) Provide technical support for sales, production and technical services as necessary.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE: 
a) A graduate in a technical / science discipline.
b) Basic food hygiene certificate; food packaging hygiene (externally trained and certificated to recognised standard). Not essential but ideal
c) ISO 9001 Internal auditor (Externally trained to recognised standard).not essential but ideal
d) Knowledge of the packaging, print or food industries with previous experience in a technical role.
e) Good understanding of quality and technical systems.
f) Proven experience of improving not just maintaining technical systems.
g) Ability to influence, persuade and train staff to follow technical systems and processes.
h) Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
