Support Worker

We are looking for a number of support workers to cover shifts on an ad hoc basis. You would be working at a service for short breaks for children aged 5-18 who have a diagnosis of Autism and learning difficulties.

Your duties would include building positive relationships with the young people, Supporting them to have fun, go on activities and access all aspects of the community. Supporting young people through their morning and evening routines and providing personal care. Enabling young people to build on independence skills. Updating Clear care, young people’s diaries and contacts. Cooking tea and other domestic duties, cleaning etc.

Due to being a short break service the needs of the young people change every day so it is important that you are aware you will be working with lots of different children. Meridian is a busy fast paced service which adapts to the needs of the children on a daily basis.

We’re looking for people with at least 6 months’ experience in social care with a relevant qualification or 12 months’ experience without. You’ll also be required to apply for an enhanced DBS or be registered with the DBS update service.
