Workplace description: This hotel features a traditional restaurant and stylish rooms with free Wi-Fi. The hotel is situated in Shrewsbury’s historical centre. It has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes for its seasonal à la carte menu. There bar offers local ales, modern cocktails, and fine wines. Just a few minutes’ drive from Shropshire’s scenic countryside, the Grade II Listed hotel is a 2-minute walk from the banks of the River Severn. Shrewsbury Pride Hill Shopping Centre is a 10-minute walk away.

Main duties and responsibilities: We are looking to appoint an experienced ‘head bar man/ supervisor to lead and coordinate a quality bar service within our restaurant and banqueting bars. This ‘hands on ‘position will mainly oversee all our busy bars and banqueting beverage service in our popular restaurant and event suites. You will also undertake Duty Manager shifts when required to do so.

Essential criteria: Well skilled in bar and wine service, cellar management, beverage stock and cost controls, bar hygiene and guest etiquette. IT literate [EPOS system], you will possess a charm and personality that will endear our corporate resident and bride and groom alike. Skills in developing our beverage range, coupled with promotional activity to grow sales are a must. Good man management skills able to manage and develop a small team. Cocktail knowledge would be most advantageous.
