Telephony and Network Engineer (Field-Based)

Salary: £42,000 per year

• Field-Based Telephony and Network Engineer
• Sheffield, South Yorkshire (Must be happy to travel)
• Up to £42,000 per year
• Plus 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays, private pension, bonuses, etc.

Skills and Experience:

• Be able to demonstrate telecommunications and IP Technical knowledge to a high standard
• Be able to demonstrate an aptitude for technology and have a high level of manual dexterity.
• CCNA or CompTIA Networking + qualification.
• Microsoft Server 2012/2016 experience
• At least three years’ experience as a field engineer installing and maintaining IP Telephone system and Call Centre.
• Experience working with 8×8 hosted systems – Ideally, a certification on the 8×8 systems and applications.
• Have a flexible approach to work and be team oriented.
• Be able to demonstrate good organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Have strong IT skills and a working knowledge of windows-based packages and other databases.
• Have a strong understanding on the importance of delivering outstanding customer service.
• Have a desire to learn and be committed to ongoing professional development, undertaking training as required.
• Install and maintain our customers Telephony TDM and IP Business Phone Systems as well as applications in call centre environments, including call queuing, agent control, reports and wallboards.
• Install and build customer’s solutions via 8×8 and NFON hosted platforms.
• Fault find on VoIP networks which will include the protocols SIP, RTP, T38, ALG, DNS, TCP, UDP, FTP, Multicasting, Layer 2 and 3 routing and the telephony/network QoS.
• Also any experience using tools such as Wireshark and Syslog to identify problems with SIP extensions and SIP trunks, would be useful

The Opportunity:

My client working within the telecoms sector are currently looking for a Field Based Network and Telephony Engineer on a permanent basis. You will install solutions, undertaking cable runs and overcoming buildings / logistic issues as they arise, ensuring each installation or site visit has technically been documented and Investigate faults that are the result of product malfunction and share findings to the team. You must have a full UK driving licence.
