A Housekeeper and Caretaker are required to provide practical care and maintenance for a family house, wing, grounds and parkland. The Caretaker will deal with all aspects of maintenance, driving machinery for grass cutting, leaf collecting, assisting the Gardner on some tasks, and the woodman on woodland activities, keeping the yards and environs tidy. The Housekeeper will keep the house clean and tidy, and prepare for guests into the house, settling them in and briefing them on their responsibilities.

This is one ‘job’ carried out by two people. Pay is for 65 hours per week which will generally involve 18 hours Housekeeping in the private house; 7 hours housekeeping in the visitor wing; 40 hours caretaking. There are out of hours requirements and some weekend duties for which either time off in lieu or overtime payment will be agreed. 4 weeks holiday to be taken by prior agreement
