My Client mixed comprehensive Secondary school in the Streatham area of Lambeth, London will be looking for several Teaching Assistants for February 2nd. The jobs will be until the end of the Academic Year, July 15′.

I have placed Teaching Assistants in this school for over 6 years. Graduates who were looking for more school based experience before applying for a PGCE/Schools Direct Programme. They have worked as Teaching Assistants in the learning support department, led by an outstanding SENCO. All worked with students with specific learning difficulties, students with Dyslexia, Autism and also those with Attention Deficit Disorder. Some have worked in Year 7 classes and others with several SEN students in Years 8 to 11.

The SENCO is keen to meet people with a genuine passion for working with young people with learning difficulties and will then go on to work in Education. She likes people who have worked with Youths, taught overseas, tutored or volunteered in schools. But any strong graduates should apply.

When the time comes, in 2015, the SENCO will assist you with your application for a PGCE/Schools Direct. She provides advice on the CV, interview techniques……. The strike rate has been very high for the PGCE applicants over the last couple of years. Also those who were not successful in gaining a PGCE/Schools Direct place were kept on at the London school for the following year.

It is a very good school with an excellent learning support department. You will have a great year here before you kick start your career in Education.

The SENCO will interview on January 30th but I will be looking to have registration interviews ASAP.
