Transport Planner

Salary: £32,400 – £37,200 per year

Bennett and Game are currently working with a national logistics network company actively seeking a Transport Planner to join their Chester location.

Planner Position Overview

Our client are looking for a dynamic & forward thinking Transport Planner to join their close knit team. You will be controlling the day-to-day operation of the traffic desk profitably and professionally.

Key responsibilities include:

• Monitor all delivery runs, ensure that drivers are making deliveries on time and communicate with customers regarding any delays
• Liaise with the wider team at the depot to ensure that operational requirements are met
• Ensuring compliance of Standard Operational Procedures (SOP’s) and ensuring the department continuously achieves a high level of customer focus & service
• Report directly to the Group Transport Manager and assist with all day-to-day tasks
• Answering questions from customers
• Ensuring that traffic diary is kept up to date
• Subcontracting excess work and ensuring that all paperwork is kept up to date
• Ensure that drivers abide with all regulations, i.e. tachographs, defects, etc.
• Liaison with workshop to support maintenance schedule
• Provide out of hours cover to traffic office and to meet business needs
• To follow all Health and Safety requirements and to adhere to all Company’s procedures and policies
• To enter data from customers onto IT systems
• Booking in deliveries and collections
• Ensuring that all drivers have all the necessary paperwork and information to carry out their duties

Transport Planner Position Requirements

• Proven ability in planning routes and drivers efficiently
• Previous experience managing drivers (hours, tacho, infringements etc)
• Strong IT & TMS / Planning system knowledge and exposure
• Knowledge on sub-contract / 3rd party drivers (and relevant documentation that goes with it)
• Excellent customer service & communication skills (both with internal departments & external clients)
• Knowledge of transport compliance & SOP’s

Transport Planner Position Remuneration

• £32,400 – £37,200DOE
• On-site Parking
• Rotating shift (6am till 3pm and 9am till 6pm)
• Monday to Friday
