Barista / Bar Staff

Grindsmith Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a Barista/Bar Staff to join their team based in Media City, Manchester. This is a full time role offering a competitive Salary: £26,000per year depending on experience.

The Barista/Bar Staff is responsible for serving all Grindsmith products with friendly, individualised attention towards each customer. They are also responsible for educating customers about our premium coffees, teas and food items. The barista fulfils any other duties the store manager, assistant manager or shift supervisor assigns and represents Grindsmith in a professional manner.

Key responsibilities of our Barista/Bar Staff:

– Maintains the highest quality, consistent product standards.

– Follows all Grindsmith drink/food recipes and procedures.

– Greats all customers as they arrive with fast, friendly, personalised service and develops a rapport with regular customers learning their names, favourite drinks and food items.

– Verbally receives customers orders in a friendly manner, determining how they prefer their coffee i.e strong or light.

– Prepare coffee in front of the customer and take any input they may give in a positive manner so they receive the perfect coffee.

– Serve hot drinks quickly and efficiently on the wooden boards, replacing any drinks that may have been served cold or that have not met a customers expectations.

– Prepare hot food in a safe and competent manner, serving quickly and efficiently on the wooden boards, replacing any food that may have been served cold.

– Reports all customer complaints to the manager or supervisor

– Accurately processes sales orders for cash and credit transactions into POS and when necessary counts back change to customers in a friendly manner.

– Routinely cleans the bar area, food prep area, grinders and takes out trash.

– Makes sure that all crockery is clean.

– Performs preventative and general maintenance on coffee machines, to ensure that it is always in perfect working condition.

– To undertake project work & training to develop skills in food production, management & enhancing customer service.

– Assists in the training of kitchen personnel in safe operation of all kitchen equipment and utensils.

– Assists in the training of kitchen personnel in cleanliness and sanitation practices.

– Assists the Chefs in maintaining appropriate cleaning schedules for kitchen floors, mats, walls, hoods, other equipment and food storage areas.

– Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.

Requirements, Qualifications & Physical Demands:

– Regularly required to stand, walk, talk and listen.

– Frequently required to use hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.

– Regularly required to lift and/ or move potentially heavy items.

– Regularly required to handle food and hot beverages.

Qualifications and Experience required by our Barista/Bar Staff:

– Experience working in a busy cafe/bar environment.

– Extensive knowledge of speciality coffee industry.

– Ability to prepare speciality coffee is preferred but not essential.

– Customer service and evidence/experience of ability to show a high quality customer experience.
