re:Work are proud to be partnered with a multi-award-winning built environment consultancy to support them in appointing a Head of Sustainability / Principal Sustainability Consultant.

The ideal Head of Sustainability / Principal Sustainability Consultant will be passionate about delivering sustainable projects across the built environment, while being commercially minded and client-facing.

Within this leadership position you will oversee a team of consultants providing a comprehensive, multi-disciplined design services to clients in relation to built environment construction and engineering projects, whilst being part of the management structure which is responsible for developing and growing the business.

As Head of Sustainability you will be used to leading teams to carry out building performance simulation and energy related workstreams, using a range of modelling approaches, tools and techniques, ideally with some exposure to Passivhaus. You will have held positions in which you have supported the training and development of junior members of staff and provided team motivation and leadership.

You will play a part in the development of energy strategies with clients to lead sustainability innovation on developments and projects across a wide range of sectors including commercial, residential, mixed-use, higher education, healthcare and hospitality.

Responsibilities

* Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs.

* Offer consultancy advice and prepare design reports in a timely fashion and within budget.

* Provide consultancy advice on sustainable issues, such as; water efficiency, health and wellbeing, waste and Net Zero Carbon (NZC)

* Providing appropriate low carbon material and procurement solutions to lower the embodied carbon of a project

* Full management of environmental assessments of buildings using BREEAM

* Develop the Circular Economy Strategies for buildings, including the development of LCA (Life Cycle Assessments)

* Take an active role in building services design elements for both small and major projects working closely with other team members.

* Maintain and develop a professional knowledge of energy, carbon and sustainability technologies, processes and legislation and the impact on clients

Requirements

* Knowledge of the UKGBC Net Zero and RICS Embodied Carbon guidance methodology for embodied carbon and experience of delivering results against the BREEAM standards.

* Understanding of building certification methods (BREAM / LEED / WELL SKA etc.)

* At least 7 years’ experience in a similar role

* Be a qualified BREEAM Assessor and ideally BREEAM AP

* Hold a good level of knowledge and understanding of energy and sustainability planning policy

* Have good practical experience with energy-efficient building design and specification

* Be experienced in energy modelling for residential and non-residential buildings

* Knowledge of the Green House Gas emissions reporting
