Purchasing Assistant
Full job description
F1rst Commercial Recruitment
Salary: £27,600 – £32,400 per year
Brilliant with Buying? Practiced at Purchasing? Or maybe you want to get into purchasing and haven’t found the right role or company to do it in? Whichever way, this Purchasing Assistant role could well add up for you!
This well-established Manufacturing company based local to Ashton-Under-Lyne has an enviable reputation and a worldwide customer base. They are looking to build their buying team and as such are looking to recruit a Purchasing Assistant who will report to the Purchasing Manager.
If you have knowledge or exposure to procurement/purchasing but would like to learn more, this role could be a very good opportunity. This is because your work ethic, character, aptitude and willingness are all far more important than the level of experience you have. The finer details can be taught.
The Purchasing Manger is very open to training and developing someone if they have the approach to learn and be involved and she feels the ‘team fit’ is there. There does need to be some element of working with MRP/ERP systems and some knowledge of manufacturing, but this can be the base minimum in terms of experience for the right person.
The team is diverse, and not only do they work well together, they are also easy to get along with and all are comfortable getting their head down and getting on with it when needs must and can all still have a joke with each other too.
The day-to-day duties of this role are the typical duties you would expect of a purchasing assistant. However, it is a role that also requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, quick thinking, the ability to build relationships and ideally, experience within purchasing for manufacturing or industrial SME’s.
It’s a good role, in a good and stable company that can set you on a good career path in purchasing.
We are looking for:
- Previous exposure/experience within a purchasing or manufacturing environment
- Good organisational and planning skills with the ability to work to deadlines
- Analytical with good attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Ability to use MS excel at intermediate level (V look ups and pivot table functions)
- Eager to learn and develop skills
- If you have worked in manufacturing environments as a buyers assistant/purchasing assistant then this would be highly desirable
In return for your efforts, we can offer:
- £27,600 – £32,400- £28k salary dependant on level of experience
- Up to 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
- DIS benefit (4 x annual salary)
- Enhanced Pension contribution after qualifying period
- Annual company bonus (not guaranteed)
- Holiday buy back scheme
- Hybrid working option (3 days office, 2 days home)
- Free parking
