Auto Electrician / Telematics Engineer – Field Based

We are working with a leading and well-established vehicle tracking organisation who provide solutions including CANbus integration, vehicle tracking and systems integration.

THE ROLE
In this field based role you’ll be working closely with the Engineering Manager to deliver installation services to our client’s diverse customer base. You’ll support the continued growth of this company by installing and maintaining vehicle tracking (GPS/GSM) and ancillary CANbus related electrical equipment to a range of 12/24v DC vehicles. You’ll also undertake electrical and IT fault finding, addressing issues with appropriate resolutions.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Install a range of GPS/GSM tracking and ancillary CANbus electrical equipment to 12/24v vehicles
• Undertake servicing work on these devices
• Present a positive company image and work within company guidelines
• Work with 3rd party integration partners to help develop, install and maintain
• Identify and resolve electrical and IT related faults

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
• Qualified Auto Electrician or Mechanic – City and Guilds or NVQ equivalent with electrical fault finding experience
• Experience with GPS/GSM vehicle tracking equipment – able to understand the limitations of low power GPS/GSM equipment and adapt to the local environment to complete assigned tasks
• A clean driving licence is essential
• Field based installation/service engineering
• Previous experience of working with end users – able to engage with customer at all levels and adapt to changing circumstances
• High standard and quality of work, self-motivated, able to work autonomously without constant supervision
• Effective time management – arrive onsite on-time, complete tasks within the time frame agreed with the customer
• Team player
