Junior UX Designer

Salary: £27,600 per year

My client is experiencing a significant increase in bookings due to a huge surge in demand for UK holidays.

As such they are undergoing one of their biggest periods of growth to date and are actively seeking the best and brightest local talent to join them in their journey to connect 3 million happy holidaymakers with 35,000-holiday homes by 2023!

What started as a small family-run company has now grown to be a 900 strong workforce of ambitious, passionate professionals spread across the UK, Ireland and New Zealand at a growing number of Regional Sister Brands and at other Chester head offices.

Amongst their ongoing growth, they are now seeking their newest bright and ambitious Junior UX Designer to join the rapidly expanding UX team at their Chester head office. Working within their wider Product department, you will be focused on improving one of their many exciting products, working closely with people across the business to drive solutions that meet the needs of both the user and the business. This is an incredibly exciting time to be joining the UX team as the business continues to invest heavily in the team and wider Product department, including an increased focus on both the accessibility and usability of their user experiences

Position: Junior UX Designer

Location: Hybrid Working with a mixture of remote and office (CHESTER) working available and will be discussed at the interview

Skills Required:

• Interest or entry-level experience working or studying in a similar field.
• Understanding of some design methods and principles and how to apply them.
• Familiar with design and prototyping tools such as Moqups, Sketch, Framer, or similar.
• Able to work with both qualitative and quantitative data.
• Awareness of some research methods and how to apply them.
• Able to articulate design decisions to stakeholders across the business.
• Clear communicator that can tell a good story.
• Comfortable collaborating with multiple people across differing skill sets.
• Open to challenges and finding new ways of approaching problems.
• Awareness of turning research insights into design solutions.

Nice to have:

• Bachelors in UX Design, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or similar.
• Awareness of human biases or behaviours and how they can influence people.
• Awareness of Lean and Agile ways of working in multi-disciplinary squads.
• Awareness of A/B testing and experimentation.
• Awareness of research and insight tools such as UserZoom, ContentSquare, or similar

Key Responsibilities

As the newest Junior UX Designer, you will be reporting into their UX Designer and will be accountable for the following areas of responsibility:

• Solving problems through an insight-led, lean UX process.
• Using multiple methods and techniques to generate design solutions.
• Connecting with and understanding the needs of the user.
• Defining and uncovering the right problems through relevant questioning.
• Working with stakeholders to gather and understand design requirements.
• Sharing and articulating design decisions with stakeholders.
• Planning work across all phases of design using a structured approach.
• Collaborating with researchers to deliver informed design solutions.
• Working with researchers to understand if solutions are fit for purpose.
• Collaborating with developers on solutions and design handovers.
• Supporting other designers with larger business projects.
• Taking ownership of key objectives including personal growth & development.

Salary: 25-35k Pounds per annum

Working Hours: The working hours for this position are 37.5 per week to be worked Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5.30 pm.
