Yard / Warehouse Person

My Client, a Hire and management company based in Crawley, is looking for a yard/warehouse person to join their team.

Hours of work at 6:45am – 5pm Monday to Friday

Duties will include but are not limited to:

• To undertake roles as directed by the hiredesk and yard/warehouse foreman
• To undertake foreman roles in his/her absence.
• To make sure the whole yard & warehouse are kept clean & tidy at all times.
• All spillages must dealt with safely and immediately. Oil dry granules and spill pads etc must not be put down and just left. The spill must be cleared and the source of the spill dealt with.
• During winter months, ensure all ice and snow is cleared promptly and stocks of rock salt are kept and stored safely.
• To liaise with the hire desk to ensure all picking lists are promptly picked, accessible and clearly marked.
• To ensure regular and accurate stock checks are taken, as agreed with the hire desk.
• To report any picking list shortages or likely shortages to the hire desk immediately.
• To ensure the safe & timely loading and unloading of all commercial vehicles of the employer and its customers or suppliers.
• To ensure all incoming deliveries are stored promptly and in the correct place and all goods receipts checked and passed to the relevant recipient without delay.
• To ensure wash down bay is kept clear.
• To ensure Hot washer (if used outside) is ready to use during day shift padlocked up and brought in each night. Especially during winter months.
• To ensure used plates are cleanly stripped and ready for re use.
• To ensure scrap and waste oil is stored safely and regular scrap/recycles runs take place as necessary.

•To report any yard/warehouse health & safety defects/issues to line manager or a Director.
• All fire escapes are kept clear and fire extinguishers accessible.
• Ensure all yard padlocks and keys are kept in good serviceable order.
• To ensure all company employees in the yard/warehouse environment wear the correct Hi Viz PPE
• Rubbish bins are sited outside of the yard on the appropriate day for collection
• Warehouse lights are turned off at the end of each day
• Warehouse and yard is locked up at the end of each day
• Yard parking bays are kept clear
• Avoid storing equipment in the car park

Overtime rates apply on an hourly time and half basis.
