Overview:
Our client has a superb opportunity for a Technical Architect to work on their digital video management and distribution platform. Their clients are global brands in the broadcast, production, post production music and automotive sectors. This platform helps them better exploit the new video era.
Responsibilities
• Specifying, designing and assisting the implementation of their product roadmap for their media asset management and distribution platform.
• Designing elegant, efficient and robust solutions, you will liaise with the development manager and professional services team, understand requirements and specifications, explore internal roadmap and help manage the internal (on and off shore) teams
• work on client engagements, specifying and designing solutions through to production
• Joining the Software Development team, you will help convert both roadmap and client requirements and specifications into full technical solutions, taking account of the technical, business and financial benefits of your design approaches.

Skills/Experience

Essential
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
• Expert level Java and J2EE development
• OO, enterprise design patterns and formal software design experience
• Unit testing and test framework development
• Web/HTML and client interface technologies
• Refactoring and continuous improvement
• Clustering and high-availability
• Database design and integration
• Excellent client-facing and presentation skills

Desirable
• Virtualisation, load balancing and caching technologies
• Enterprise storage and cloud computing
• I/O and network concepts: Standard Internet protocols (such as TCP/IP, HTTP, SSH)
• Video formats and standards (broadcast, mobile and web)
• Transcoding and encoding tools (Carbon, FlipFactory, FFMpeg etc.)
