Electrician

Role Purpose

To work within a team to carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance efficiently, effectively and in a safe manner.

Accountabilities

– Complete planned and reactive maintenance work in an effective and safe manner
– Carry out hands-on maintenance work on mechanical and electrical plant, machinery and equipment
– Operate plant and machinery as required
– Work to Safe System of Work for all activities when on site
– Deliver a safe personal working culture
– Complete the workload as stipulated by the Shift Manager or Shift Superintendent
– Attend to unplanned failures in a timely manner to meet reliability targets
– Complete job cards and input data on the computerised maintenance system to identify work activity and delays
– Report parts and materials deficits to the Shift Superintendent without delay
– Suggest tactical decisions to the Shift Superintendent to stay on schedule
– Demonstrate commitment to multi-skilled activity where appropriate
– Notify the Shift Superintendent of all operational issues affecting delivery to plan without delay
– Required to complete job cards
– Required to plan own work to minimise time lost
– Communicate accurate information to the Shift Superintendent
– Foster good relationships with internal stakeholders in particular the Operations team

Experience & Knowledge

– Experience of maintaining heavy plant and machinery in a heavy industrial environment e.g. mining, quarrying, process or manufacturing
– Experience of knowledge of high voltage switching, PLCs, conveyor systems and pneumatics
– Excellent fault finding skills and the ability to use fault finding diagnostic equipment
– Able to work at heights
– Must be willing to multi-skill in electrical and mechanical engineering
– Capable of working effectively under pressure in a critical busy environment
– Understand permit to work systems and accident reporting

Qualifications

– Time served Electrician or Engineer
– Qualified to a minimum HNC/ONC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or Apprentice trained with further learning
– A full UK driving licence
