Salary: £30,000 – £36,000 per year
Our client is an established and reputable construction, civil engineering and infrastructure contracting company operating on a nationwide basis. Their portfolio of services and professional, qualified staff will typically provide: site survey and preparation of working drawings, design of foundations to BS8004 and BS8110 and in full compliance of local authority and NHBC requirements, preparation of working drawings on AutoCAD, co-ordination of projects to fulfil clients’ programme requirements and quality control. Their service offering covers a wide variety of industry sectors including; civil & structural engineering, ground & geotechnical engineering, infrastructure, rail, piling / foundations, groundworks, basement construction and the jacking & moving of a wide variety of buildings. Role Summary
Following the award of a number of projects and frameworks, our client is looking to recruit an experienced Buyer for their Doncaster head office. You will be servicing all aspects of the business throughout the UK from enquiry stage through to on time delivery of materials and equipment.
Responsibilities
• Carry out the procurement process for complex procurement requirements in accordance with the procurement & supply chain management strategy
• Prepare and issue material and subcontract enquiries
• Check quotations are compliant with specification and commercial requirements
• Liaise with sites to assist with the resolution of supply issues as and when required
• Provide regular reports on procurement and supplier performance
• Monitor vendor database to ensure that it contains up to date details of available suppliers
• Monitor the supply market to identify potential new suppliers and products and meet with suppliers to understand their products
• Understand the supplier market, keeping abreast of market developments, demand trends and risks
Requirements
• Good knowledge of Civil Engineering/Construction materials and sources
• Knowledge of commercial law is desirable but not essential
• To demonstrate a proven track record in negotiation and process compliance
This challenging and exciting opportunity requires a Buyer from either a construction, civil / structural / ground / geotechnical engineering, rail or infrastructure background. Alternatively, our client would happily consider an Assistant / Junior Buyer Surveyor from the aforementioned industry sectors, but who can demonstrate the desire, enthusiasm, tenacity and to willingness to progress themselves into this position.
