Process / Industrial Engineer

Salary: £48,000 – £50,400

We are looking for an experienced process or industrial engineer to join a busy automotive tier 1 based in the Midlands. Previous automotive experience is required and knowledge of planning and implementation of production processes in a production plant, for existing and new product, in cooperation with the areas of product development, application engineering, equipment planning, logistics, production and quality, with the goal of efficiently industrializing the product.

Location: Commutable from Solihull, Birmingham, Redditch, Coventry or Leamington Spa

Salary: £48,000 – £50,400dependent on experience

:

• 3 – 5 years of experience in automotive process implementation / process improvement
• Training “PLM Basics“
• Process Engineering experience
• English skills (technical vocabulary, written and verbal)
• Time study experience and knowledge of pre-determined times (MOST, MTM, other)
• Understanding of logistic systems (JIS/JIT environment)
• Quick understanding of complex situation and implementation of corrective actions
• AutoCad knowledge
• Experience in assembly processes, preferably in the automotive section
• Experience in balancing of assembly lines
• Good knowledge of Lean Management (5S, TPM, Kaizen) and preferably with implementation experience
• Good knowledge of MS Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Create, manage and monitor the production plan, as a summary of the plan with regard to man, machine, process, investment, capacities, material, etc., as part of the project goals and the industrialization guidelines
• Create and optimize the balancing of work content for each work station, based on the standard time catalogue and work time studies.
• Evaluate the overall plan with regard to feasibility and risks, develop alternative concepts and coordinate them with the production project manager.
• Create and manage the production layout including material flow, in coordination with plant engineering.
• Create and manage the value stream with Logistics, Production and Quality, with the goal of recognizing waste and developing the target value stream together with the team, including the necessary actions.
• Cooperate in the creation and implementation of internal plant material and logistics planning in cooperation with Logistics and Production.
• Cooperate in the product and process FMEA as a team member for industrialization topics.
• Cooperate in assembly and equipment planning, together with the responsible departments, with the goal of determining the overall optimum for the production area or the plant (if needed, expand activities with regard to producing equipment)
• Monitor the consistency of documentation on process monitoring criteria (such as production control plan) in the area of responsibility.
• Return time studies to planning for verification
• Cooperate in conducting the Run at Rate and in process transfer, analysis of deviations and the introduction of corrective actions
• Providing informational objects to create the production schedule (Host routing)
• Determine project risks and report to the project leader and line supervisor

Requirements:

• Review planning and existing production for changes, describe effects, forward
the information to revision management
• Conduct change implementation in commissioning, together with the affected
departments, with the goal of maintaining planned costs and schedules
• Develop and evaluate improvement potential (costs, quality, and throughput times)
with regard to increasing efficiency.
• Conduct predefined improvement projects for existing products, along with
Production, Logistics and Quality
• Support Production in series problems (scrap, etc.) of own area of responsibility
