Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Location: Selby

Salary: £16,000 to £19,000 depending on experience

Hours: Full time role

Our client is a manufacturer of Cereal & Meat Free products in both the retail & business to business sectors is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Accounts Assistant. This is a new role within a small & busy accounting department due to the acquisition of a well known cereal brand. It is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate with the opportunity to develop & make the role their own. This will require the creation of strong relationships across the company’s functions as it is a varied role with exposure to all parts of the business & accounting functions.

Job Role:

The successful candidate will be processing sales orders, matching orders with both purchase & sales invoices, credit control & general administration duties.

Main responsibilities & duties include:

  • Ensure the brand sales ledger is accurate & up to date.
  • Maintain tight credit control of the brand.
  • Ensure the brand purchase ledger is accurate & up to date.
  • Produce the weekly payment run
  • Assist with the monthly management accounts.
  • Involvement with bank reconciliations, VAT returns, Intrastat & National Statistic returns.
  • Assist with accounting duties for other parts of the business.
  • Ensure all purchase order prices are correct & entered onto the SAP system.
  • Code & process purchase invoices to the SAP system. This includes matching with delivery notes & purchase orders at the correct prices. Ensuring they are signed & returned by the authorising persons.
  • Process sales invoices on the SAP system, ensuring, sales prices & quantities are correct. Resolve customer queries. Maintaining integrity of data between EDI & SAP systems, including regular reconciliations.
  • Check statements against the purchase ledger & maintain the purchase invoice day book.
  • On a monthly basis tidy up SAP ledgers. Involves requesting & matching credit notes & resolving unallocated items.
  • Chasing payments & performing credit control duties.
  • Provide holiday & sickness cover for other department members.

The Candidate:

You must be able to work on your own initiative with a hands on common sense approach to tasks. Work as part of a team & be able to clearly communicate issues & recommendations in a timely manner. Accuracy is essential along with the ability to work to tight deadlines. Experience of working with major retailers, EDI systems & SAP Business 1 or similar accounting packages would be an advantage.

You must have good communication skills & be able to deal with a wide variety of people at all levels. Have the ability to remain calm & professional at all times. Be accurate, with a good level of numeracy & able to pay close attention to detail.
