Graduate / Junior Controls Engineer

Salary: £30,000 – £38,400 per year

My client are a leading designer and manufacturer of purpose built and bespoke machinery for the food and FMCG sectors. Based in Norfolk, they are synonymous with quality of both design and service, and as such have an enviable reputation in their sector. With growth across sales leading to investment in capacity and capability, they work closely with their customers to develop and supply modern solutions to a variety of engineering and production problems.

With their own manufacturing and production facility, my client is able to produce a huge amount of their designs and components onsite, giving the successful candidate the ideal opportunity to work closely with development and build teams in producing highly innovative concepts and designs for their customers situated around Europe.

Your role as Graduate or Junior Controls Engineer is to design, test and (where necessary) commission electrical control systems for the client’s range of special purpose machinery, ensuring those designs meet contractual and customer requirements within the agreed time and budget.

Responsibilities include:

– Develop and produce PLC and HMI software for a variety of platforms

– Design, specify and issue electrical parts lists and control panels

– Produce machine test specifications

– Work closely with wider members of the project team, reporting on progress and providing technical expertise where required.

– Specify technical specifications for brought in products.

Ideally you will be at least BTEC/HND level qualified in Electrical or Electronics, or ideally possessing a degree in equivalent subjects. Knowledge of HMI, PLC and Software/Hardware systems is highly desired, alongside any experience in practical wiring or electrical build processes. Use of CAD software for electrical or electronic systems is an essential experience required.
