Semi Skilled Carpenter / Joiner / Wood Worker

The ideal candidate for this position will have good basic knowledge in carpentry and have the desire to learn and work hard.

We are offering the right candidates the opportunity of 9 month fixed contracts within our Industry Leading Exhibition & Live Events Platform Company, based in Walsall north Birmingham.
The contract begins working within our factory refurbishing our timber based wall sections and floors, this part of the contract will last between 4-5 months. The work is of a repetitive nature but we expect a certain level of workmanship despite this. During this time there will also be the opportunity to work alongside our employees installing our various floor systems; this involves travelling to exhibition venues around the country when required.

The role is of a physical nature, the systems we work with are robust due to their regular use so are not lightweight however all necessary training is provided to ensure safe working for all our staff.

Job Skills Required:
Carpentry based skills eg, to be able to build traditional raised platforms, build steps, handrails, ramps, decking areas,, laminate areas, traditional shell scheme as per the photos I have sent through. Also using the relevant tools to build these items. Drills, Jigsaws, circular saws, all hand tools, routers etc.
Yard work will involve sanding, filling and painting our existing traditional walling panels and building new walls using 2” x 1” timbers and 4mm plywood. Along with this it would be refurbing our flooring system with new 18mm plywood into aluminium frames.
Communication must have a good level of English speaking, listening and reading skills

Driving Licence, must have a clean driving licence applicable to the UK. 7.5T Licence will also be advantageous. Fork Lift Licence is also of benefit.
Work Ethic, must be able to turn up on time, work hard for prolonged periods of time, polite and courteous to work colleagues and clients.

Wages: Salary: £26,000per year 45 Hrs per year guaranteed (Average 52.5hrs per week)
