Engineering Technician
An excellent opportunity to join a well established fast progressing electronics manufacturer.
To assist the Engineering Department with design, build, repair and documentation of prototype units & test equipment

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build prototype equipment and units to information provided by engineers
• Record how equipment is built and suggest improvements where appropriate
• Repair and modify new product designs
• Carry out tests/measurements and troubleshoot prototype units under instruction from the project engineer
• Assist with the design of test equipment
• Meet agreed time-scales for tasks or projects
• Liaise with Production, Purchasing and Stores
• Keep informed and support EMS and improvement team activities and ISO9001 – Quality and ISO 14001 – Environmental requirements. Commit to achieving the company Business, Quality and Environmental objectives and policies. Continuously seek new ‘green’ opportunities and suggest ways the business can improve.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Ability to work on multiple projects with pre-defined priorities
• Ability to test and troubleshoot prototype units
• Ability to carry out PCB assembly and wiring to production standards
• Basic electronics awareness with a familiarity of electronic components and circuit diagrams
• Good communication skills with colleagues and customers
• Proficient in surface mount soldering and rework
• Knowledge of relevant procedures and how they affect prototype build
• An understanding of the special requirements of high voltage equipment
• Ability to keep accurate records.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Strong background in electronic theories and principles. A good understanding of general electronics, wiring and PCB assembly, experience in mechanical assembly. Knowledge of the special requirements of high voltage would be an advantage as well as a professional qualification in electronics.
