HGV Class 1 Night Driver

Salary: £21.6 – £22.8 per hour

The Client

Anglian Water (AWS) is the largest geographic water and wastewater company in England and Wales, covering 27,500 square kilometres. The AWS region includes water and water recycling centres (sewage treatment works), reservoirs and networks stretching from the Humber in the north to the Thames in the south, from Northampton in the west across to the east coast. They also provide water services to the Hartlepool area as Hartlepool Water. In total, they supply over 6 million customers.

The Requirement

AWS operates a fleet of class 1 & 2 vehicles – primarily tankers. Operating 7 days per week from 21 sites, undertaking collection of liquid sludge from source works within the AWS region and delivery to nominated treatment centres. The AWS driving role requires some manual handling and use of a vacuum hose (training can be provided but experience is preferred) Workers will need to be physically fit, comfortable working alone in isolated locations and be comfortable working with sludge type materials. AWS utilise agency drivers to cover peaks in demand (typically during the summer months) vacancies and to supplement permanent recruitment by taking drivers on temp 2 perm

Driver Hire Southend are currently recruiting for HGV Class 1 Night Drivers for Basildon area. You would be working locally, tankering sewage collection, full training to be provided over a 2-3 week period (if required) with pay. This would be ongoing night work with the possibility of going permanent if you are the right candidate. Typical shift times ranging from 18:00 to 03:00.

Requirements for this HGV Class 1 Night Driver role:

HGV Class 1 Licence and up to date CPC

Experience driving a HGV Class 1 vehicle

Ability to work at Night, previous experience desirable

Trustworthy, reliable and flexible working mindset

Excellent timekeeping skills

Ability to work independently

No more than 6 points on your licence

Excellent communication skills

Rates of pay:

Monday to Sunday: £21.6 – £22.8 an hour including holiday pay

Your rota will be provided by our client one week ahead.

This is not a Monday to Friday job. You might be asked to work any night of the week, weekend up to 4 nights a week, sometimes more nights therefore flexibility is key requirement in this job.
