Summary
The role will provide a fault finding and technical advice service to the managers and technicians working on new fleet of 37 trains – 4car – Class 378 Electrostar’s.
Initially until Reading Depot is electrified (December 2016), trains will be operating from either Bletchley or North Pole. New recruits will be expected to undergo full technical training on Electrostars at one of the existing depots – East ham, Bedford, Brighton, Ramsgate or Selhurst.
Job Specification
Working as part of the Engineering team, this challenging role involves investigating faults and defects on a fleet of 37 modern EMU’s. The successful applicant will provide technical assistance/advice to Shift Managers and technicians relating to engineering issues and be responsible for the effective fault diagnosis, repair and analysis of designated systems of responsibility. To achieve this effectively, the incumbent of this role will develop short and long term solutions to technical issues to help improve the reliability and safety of an already strong fleet.
Qualifications:
They will be of a skilled status, and ideally will have HNC (or equivalent) in electrical/ mechanical engineering but a good technical knowledge of EMU, rolling stock is essential, with related hands-on maintenance experience. Candidates should have completed an engineering apprenticeship (railway or comparative industry) preferably dual trained. Good communication skills are essential in the role together with the ability to manage work to ensure maximum service provision.
