AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR A PERSON WITH A LEAN MANUFACTURING / PRODUCTION / FACTORY BACKGROUND TO LEAD A TEAM IN A BUSY MATERIALS RECYCLING FACILITY (MRF) IN WASTE MANAGEMENT

Role: Production Operations Manager MRF – Recycling & Waste Management

Salary: £48,000 – £60,000 plus Car, Bonus and Package

Location: Yorkshire – Candidates will be considered from Sheffield, Wakefield, Pontefract, Rotherham, Doncaster, Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford, Harrogate, York and the surrounding area.

CLIENT

My client is a market leading organisation in the recycling sector. They are engaged in general waste management and recycling services. With their own (MRFs) and transport facilities they can offer a full and comprehensive service to potential customers.

In a previous position you may have worked in a: Waste Management, MRF Manager(materials recovery facility), food or electronics industry, high volume factory, processing, transfer station, plant, road sweeping treatment plant, mechanical biological treatment plant or transfer loading station, Quarry, Chemicals, pharmaceutical, Food, Automotive, mining, aggregates, Mining, clinical, hazardous, processing, plastics production, plastics, metals, paper, card, glass etc.

You may have knowledge of 5S, Six Sigma (Yellow, Green or Black Belt), Kaizen, Kanban, Just in Time, Root Cause Analysis, Continuous Improvement, TPM, Lean Manufacturing.

ROLE

As a Materials Recovery Facility Operations Manager you will be responsible for the running of operations and maintenance within the plant, ensuring compliance within government legislation regarding waste management on your shift, company policy and all aspects of health and safety within the facility. You will also be responsible for a bulk plastics processing operation.

You will be responsible for a processing site (materials recycling facility / transfer station)

You will be responsible for the efficient running of shift patterns, measuring and controlling input and output, ensuring that processes run smoothly

The site will involve manual picking but there will also be some automation in the form of conveyors, baling and wrapping equipment

You will be responsible for the development of the site and increase production.

You will be responsible for ensuring highest quality which will in turn mean maximum value can be attained on the sale of processed material streams

You should be commercially aware and entrepreneurially minded in order to source buyers and outlets for the recycled materials. You will also have P & L responsibility

You will take part in cost reduction exercises so awareness of lean including: 5S, Six Sigma (Yellow, Green or Black Belt), Kaizen, Kanban, Just in Time, Root Cause Analysis, Continuous Improvement, TPM, Lean Manufacturing is an advantage.

You will not be responsible for trucks

EXPERIENCE

Strong leadership is a prerequisite for the role including experience in the delivery of change with a positive outcome

Up to date knowledge of techniques such as Kaizen, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, 5S, Just in Time, Kanban, Lean Manufacturing would be beneficial although not essential if you have the relevant on the job experience

You MUST be committed to inspiring and enforcing a positive Health and Safety ethic within the team, IOSH & NEBOSH are desirable.
