Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

We are a well respected, global high technology capital equipment manufacturer. Due to tremendous growth in recent years and an ever increasing demand for our special purpose machines, we now need to further expand our Design team. Our existing Lead Design Engineer has recently promoted and consequently, we require a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer with ten plus years experience to take his place. An Engineering qualification is a pre requisite and our preference would be for Autodesk Inventor. We are open to candidates who have experience of designing any type of equipment, although high speed automation, conveyor knowledge would be highly desirable. You must also be able to demonstrate previous experience of managing a team of design staff.

Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

Overseeing a team of Mechanical Design staff.
To produce designs and subsequent manufacturing drawings and related documentation using primarily AutoDesk Inventor CAD software.
Design systems based on design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, production costs, and client specifications.
To undertake mechanical design calculations when required.
To undertake material and equipment specification.
To discuss and interpret requirements and to prepare concise engineering specifications as a prerequisite to design.
To discuss and resolve design related production problems with in-house manufacturing departments, sub-contractors and suppliers.
To review customer provided tender documentation and assess to compliance of company products to customers’ requirements. To respond formally to the Sales Dept. providing technical information on the degree of compliance and corresponding non-compliance.
Develop own personal technical competence.
Keeping up to date with changes to applicable UK and European legislation.
