Salary: £21.6 – £24 per hour

THE ROLE
This role is perfect for somebody passionate about Changing Lives through Skills and Work by tutoring and mentoring learners through the Functional Skills requirements to achieve their qualification. Current delivery requirement is remote delivery online.
MAIN PURPOSE
To plan and deliver Functional Skills interactions associated with learners on courses within agreed subject areas. This includes the development of the learning experience, its delivery, assessment and the progress of learners on the course.
To provide high-quality education and training for learners needing to develop their Functional Skills, as part of their main vocational studies.
To assist in the development and delivery of new courses with Functional English, mathematics and ICT.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Functional Skills Tutor/Mentor your responsibilities will be to:
* To ensure compliance with the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Children and Adults policy
* To deliver high-quality learning with successful outcomes related to functional Maths, English & ICT, meeting the needs of learners and organisational priorities.
* To develop and implement programmes of embedded learning which provides learners with functional skills relevant to their vocational and employment needs.
* To contribute to the broader delivery of Functional Skills learning, through additional (support) teaching of Functional Maths, English, ICT, employability and/or life-skills.
* To advise and mentor vocational tutors on the embedding and assessment of functional skills, as taught in their vocational programmes.
* To support vocational tutors in the development of their own Functional Skills.
* Maintain delivery standards equivalent to or higher than a good as per the education inspection framework, striving for outstanding.
* Establish strategies for dealing with poor attendance, punctuality, behaviour and class performance as well as keeping registers and other student information as required by funding rules and for statistical purposes
* Deliver effective IAG during the qualification to support learners onto their next steps, including opportunities within further education and/or progression within employment
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
To be successful in the role of Functional Skills Tutor/Mentor you will have:
* Commitment to CPD/professional development/safeguarding
* Minimum Level 3 professional teaching qualification (PTLLS teaching qualification or equivalent)
* GCSE Grade A*-C in English, math’s and IT or equivalent
* IAG minimum level 3 Qualification
* Occupational competence in delivering Functional Skills
* An understanding of curriculum design and assessment
* Up to date knowledge of the education inspection framework

* Experience of 1:1 based delivery as well as larger group sessions
* Ability to work independently demonstrating initiative and proactivity
* Excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate concerns, complex/contentious issues in a diplomatic manner that does not offend or escalate
* Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them
* Ability to deal with changing priorities, work under pressure, work to tight deadlines and be flexible
* Ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels across the Company and with external stakeholders and committed to teamwork
* Be an excellent learning mentor providing support and guidance to help our learners succeed
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage difficult situations
* Problem-solving and decision-making skills
* Smart appearance and professional attitude
