Salary: £26,000 – £29,400 per year
Responsibilities:
1. To produce management accounts
2. To produce budget comparison reports including analysis and explanation of variances
arising.
3. To assist with debt management including chasing debts.
4. To send out invoices where required for activities undertaken.
5. To financially manage University project activity and provide financial information to
relevant budget holders on income and expenditure activity. Attendance at meetings to
present financial information will also be required.
6. To complete annual returns and attend meetings for the renewal of insurances.
The post holder will review insurances on an annual basis with the brokers and
provide any amendment recommendations to the Finance Manager.
7. To assist with registration of new members ensuring fee information is recorded
correctly at the time of registration.
8. To be responsible for the production of a number of annual reports required by funding
councils including TRAC, TRAC-T and Estates Management Statistics.
9. To assist the Student Support Department with the administration of student bursary
payments including updating of the HEBSS system to ensure bursaries are paid correctly to
students and on time.
10. To line manage the finance administrator ensuring all work completed is to a high standard
and delivered accurately and on time.
11. To oversee the purchase ledger and enter credit card purchases onto the finance system.
12. To administer the gym membership direct debits.
13. To liaise with internal and external auditors on all aspects of financial management within
14. Liaison with internal and external stakeholders providing information and advice where
required and problem solving with regards to all aspects of financial management.
15. To assist the Finance Manager/Head of Finance in producing financial policies and
procedures and contributing to the financial strategy.
16. To provide financial management information and statistical analysis required by
management for monitoring and target setting purposes, including production of reports
where necessary for Finance, Audit and Governing Body Committees.
17. To attend staff development events relevant to the role in order to keep up-to-date with
legislation and best practice within the sector. Membership of a number of external
associations and user groups may be required for these purposes.

21. To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required, including assisting and
supporting colleagues in their work, providing absence cover, and undertaking
administrative duties appropriate to the role and departmental requirements.
Successful Applicants will have the following:
* Educated to degree or AAT level with
relevant financial experience.
GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
* A desire to continue training to undertake a
professional accountancy qualification
* Relevant MS Office qualification or suitable equivalent skills
Knowledge and Skills
* High level of IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel
* Ability to work accurately to strict deadlines and deal with a wide range of tasks and people
* Capable of a systematic and consistent approach
* Ability to work as part of a team and remain calm under pressure
* To have a flexible attitude to work
* Good oral and written communication skills
* Ability to work unsupervised prioritising and responding to urgent situations effectively
* Knowledge of Access, PowerPoint and Financial Systems
* Must have a background working in a Finance department
* Background providing administrative support
* Experience of networking and liaising with colleagues and external stakeholders
