Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 per year

Based in Birmingham this company offers a range of engine cooling systems, heating and air conditioning systems and fluid reservoirs. They are the market leader for engine cooling and HVAC systems for the bus and coach market, supplying product globally. From a simple radiator design through to a complete cooling module with radiator/ charge air cooler and the option of viscous, hydraulic and electric fan drives, they can provide the complete 3D design, prototype test and production supply.

They have an opportunity for an electrical/ electronics engineer, you will become our electrical expert, involved in the design stage, you may visit customers’ premises to discuss new products or review installation work, involving principally vehicle cooling systems, but also air conditioning systems, heating and ventilation systems. You may also get involved with our pressure test rigs where many tests are carried out, at external vehicle testing centres, or in our Elmdon service centre. UK travel is involved. Foreign travel could be involved after training. You will work with internal personnel and customers to ensure then companies products and processes are to the best standards and liaise with all departments and customers on prompt resolution of all electrical and electronic development issues.

KEY SKILLS SUMMARY
– Qualified electrical/ electronics engineer with some hands on experience
– Knowledge of electrical architecture
– Knowledge of vehicle electrics including CANBUS and engine management systems preferred
– Refined communication skills
– IT proficient
– Capable of working on site (UK or abroad) – UK based with possible overseas travel

QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE
* Minimum qualification of degree or HND in an electrical/ electronic engineering discipline
* Working knowledge of vehicle electrics/ electronics with ability to read, understand and create wiring diagrams/ looms/ schematics
* Basic knowledge of 3D modelling with capability for further training on Solid Works
* Confidence with electrical architecture
* Working knowledge of CANBUS and engine management systems ideal
* Fluency in spoken and written English
* Ability to work on own initiative in customer facing situations
* Ability to demonstrate competence in research and development
* Computer literacy, minimum competency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
* Experience in industry in electrical engineering environment
* Basic mechanical knowledge

PERSON SPECIFICATION
* Must be a good communicator both written and verbally
* Driver’s license essential – maximum 6 points
* A good listener, observant, enthusiastic about investigating and solving problems
* Comfortable with a hands on approach but also able to step back/ see overall picture
* Keen to face constant fresh challenges
* Able to communicate with staff and customers at all levels
* Enthusiastic and dedicated
