Full job description
Revision Recruitment
Salary: £66,000 – £72,000 per year
My client are experiencing a huge period of growth and have a fantastic order book for 2022 already.
With four sites based across the UK, and over 50 years of combined trading history within the commercial vehicle market, they are synonymous with the design, manufacture and delivery of a wide range of solutions to the construction, logistics and commercial fleet market.
Following a period of investment, and the restructure of the businesses within its group, they are looking to hire a new Industrial Engineering Manager to lead their Design and NPD teams across the group.
Based at their Cambridgeshire site, your role will be to lead and develop a team of talented graduate design engineers to deliver the companies industrial product range for manufacturing across the clients multi-site structure. Working closely with the Head of Engineering, you will be encouraged to succeed both professionally and personally, with added training and ongoing development part of the role.
As a leading designer of their own range of completely integrated systems, you will be responsible for ensuring that the solutions and upgrades provided across a wide of vehicle accessories and sectors are legally compliant, functional and meet the end users needs. Throughout this process, you will work closely with internal departments such as manufacturing engineering, production and NPI to ensure a smooth transfer of the product through the business and to the customer, leading design reviews, making decisions on ‘make v buy’ components, and ensuring that designed products are manufactured effectively in line with the production schedule.
My client are a fast-paced organisation, with ambitious plans for this year and next, and several companywide modernisation projects are currently ongoing. As a consequence, individuals who can be dynamic and work without supervision are preferred, mainly due to the need for them to be able to prioritise and lead projects based on the customer need, along with working on new product introduction concepts passing through the company.
A degree or vocational qualification in a relevant engineering qualification is required, along with strong knowledge of mechanical calculation, structural design and hydraulic systems. Candidates from the automotive or specialist machinery sector are highly desired, due to the nature of the industry and its compliance stipulations. A background in the technical aspects of design is essential, so demonstrable experience in such things as DfM, DfA, DFMEA and FEA is preferred. Working knowledge of project management and SixSigma is an advantage. This role is a leadership position within my clients structure, so successful candidates will need to be able to demonstrate management experience within their recent career.
This is a hugely important role for my client, and as such, the salary and package on offer is industry matched, and it is hoped it will attract the best talent available.
