Design Engineer

Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 per year

What you will be doing as the Design Engineer:

• Designing and implementing new products into production with all associated detailed drawings, BOM’s and technical specifications, ensuring fully up to date and accurate
• Creating, completing, and maintaining Bills of Material BOM’s, tracking changes in Engineering Change Requests ECR’s, legislative developments and part revisions as appropriate
• Providing engineering support to production and procurement so all parts on the MRP system are specified and correct
• Utilise hands on engineering skills to achieve DFM (Design for Manufacture) capabilities
• Assist with the production of technical files for CE marking of new and existing products and undertake calculations including FEA analysis of parts

Design Engineer skills and qualities

• HNC / HND in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or other appropriate discipline with experience in high value machinery
• 3D and 2D CAD skills (Solidworks ideally) plus IT literate Excel / Word/ ERP / MRP systems
• Solid understanding of geometric dimensions, tolerances, hydraulics, materials and electrics used in mechanical engineering to design for manufacture (DFM) the whole complex product
• Ideally have experience in the integration of hydraulic and electrical systems
• A problem solver and lateral thinker able to improve and do things better whilst keeping an eye on the detail and able to communicate effectively with the rest of the business
• Organised and able to manage multiple projects, hands on, an eye for detail and a passion for engineering
• Team player and enjoys learning new things to bring to the business. A Valid UK driving licence
