Our client is a leading provider of municipal waste treatment and recovery services in the UK. A vacancy currently exists for a Transport Manager to support the company’s operation managers with day-to-day transport compliance needs. The primary focus of the role is to ensure that transport departments are safe, legally compliant and all Operator license regulations are fully met.

Main duties and responsibilities:

* Being named transport manager on the company’s Operator license

* Managing day-to-day Operator’s license and H&S compliance Including managing drivers hours reports, daily drivers defect reports, collecting compliance documents, monitoring vehicle weights, etc.

* Manage/ carry out and record random drivers and vehicles checks

* Manage/monitor supervisor random vehicle checks

* Monitoring and updating computer electronic compliance system and produce reports

* Manage “wall” maintenance planner

* Gather, manage and analyse transport related data

* Create and manage tachographs analysis and drivers’ hours data systems

* Supply transport/compliance data to fleet and operation managers

* Manage monthly transport reports for sites

* Liaise with maintenance providers and manage/monitor their performance and compliance

* Support, guide and manage operation teams on transport/compliance issues, liaise and support Health & Safety department

* Review internal systems to identify actions to improve compliance

* Accident Investigations, guidance and supervisor training, conduct disciplinary actions against drivers or supervisors where necessary

* Liaise with insurance and keeping up to date related documents

* Train drivers and supervisors on all transport compliance aspects

* Analyse accidents data and manage investigations

* Carry out internal audits and create transport/compliance reports

Skills/ Qualifications/Experience:

* Previous experience in transport/HGV environment, ideally gained within the waste management industry

* Possess manager CPC qualification

* Administration experience necessary

* Good attention to detail

* Highly organised

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills,

* Good Microsoft skills including email, Word, Excel etc.

* Mature and positive attitude, ability to work in a multicultural environment

* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

* Able to travel between sites in the Kent area – full cat B driving license necessary.
