Our client is a well established groundworks and civils contractor based on the outskirts of Chelmsford. Due to a full order book causing organic growth, they are currently recruiting for an Assistant / Graduate Quantity Surveyor who will support the Senior QS and Commercial Director with controlling project commercial activities. You will work closely with the project managers, site managers and site supervisors to control costs and ensure smooth project delivery.

ROLE:

* Provide commercial and contractual assistance to the Senior QS and Commercial Director.

* Obtain supplier / subcontractor quotations and analyse costs

* Assist in project and supply chain payment valuations

* Assist with change management including the pricing of changes and collating the required substantiation.

* Prepare contractual letters and notices

* Assist with preparing Cost Value Reconciliations

* Assisting with the production of cash flow forecasts, final accounts and claims

* Attend project meetings and site visits as and when required

* General administration tasks, including inputting data, keeping records and updating files.

CANDIDATE:

* The company is ideally looking for an individual with 1-3 years experience post graduate experience but they are willing to look at graduate level or individuals who are still studying toward their degree.

* Experience of working as an Assistant / Trainee QS is desirable

* Strong numerical skills with good level of commercial awareness

* Solid organisational skills with excellent attention to detail

* Strong oral and written communication skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Office packages

* Current driving licence and own car is essential due to the companies location
