ROLE: Project Quantity Surveyor

LOCATION: Reigate, Surrey

SALARY: Circa. £65,000 plus car allowance/company car, mileage expenses, private healthcare, 26 days holiday, excellent in-house training, opportunity for progression

THE COMPANY 

Founded over 30 years ago this award winning, regional building contractor (Surrey, Kent & Sussex) undertake projects in both the public and private sectors with a reputation for excellent service. Typical projects include Affordable/Private Housing, Commercial, Healthcare and Education up to £30m in value. 

THE PROJECT

The initial project is in Brighton, East Sussex and begins early July, which comprises of a new education facility valued at £6.3m.

THE JOB

This exciting Project Quantity Surveyor vacancy, based from modern offices in Reigate, Surrey (you will also be site based – initial project Brighton, East Sussex) will see you working on projects ranging in value from £2m up to £30m. You will have the support of a visiting Commercial Manager, but you will be expected to take commercial responsibility. Your duties will include: 

• Work closely with and agree contract programmes with the Project Manager and Commercial Manager and monitor progress commercially
• Preparation and submission of monthly valuations 
• Set up initial Cost Value Report (CVR) utilising the Estimators tender summary
• Update CVR monthly and communicate figures to the Commercial Manager
• Advise internally on cash flow forecasts as necessary
• Assist and resolve any client-related issues or disputes
• Review sub-contractor and Major Suppliers Commercial performance on completion of contracts, giving feedback where appropriate

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• The ideal candidate will have managed projects or packages circa £2m to £10m. 
• Happy to travel to sites across Surrey, Kent and Sussex
• Experienced in residential or commercial new build projects
• Full knowledge of JCT forms of contract
• Degree/HND qualification in quantity surveying/commercial management/construction desirable
• Excellent understanding of Excel
• Excellent planning and organisation skills
• Good negotiation and communication skills
• Good time management skills
• Self-motivating
• Highly numerate
• Evidence of maintaining a professional, consistent, and fair approach
