Electrical Estimator – Building Services

This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Estimator to join one of the UK’s largest M&E Contractors based near Chorley.

Our client is a nationwide building services group. Delivering high levels of value to building projects, through the full lifecycle of design, installation, commissioning and maintenance.

Role & Responsibilities

·Determine quantity of work scope in a logical ordered manner

·Responsible for pricing works in an analytical and systematic way using an approved system

·Assist the Project Planner in the establishment and development of the project construction programme

·In conjunction with Procurement Manager, liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain the best available quotations

·Responsible for evaluations of options or alternatives

·Work with Bid Manager according to the demands of the bid / tender

·Production of a financial analysis of the estimate in an approved form for review

·Comply with company tendering guidelines and procedures

·Ensure compliance with all legislation and industry standards

·Assist in the analysis of technical work scope

·Contribute to the project risk analysis and register

·Responsible for the checking of accuracy and completeness of clients tender documents

·Undertake estimating using Estim8 & Microsoft Excel software

·Review for full understanding of conceptual designs, technical work scopes and specifications

·Production of enquiries for suppliers and subcontractors

·Undertake risk analysis for bids

·Review of project programmes

·Work with the bid team to compile tender submission documents to client

·Post tender presentations with the client

·Assist in establishing contract cost codes and targets

·Identification and elimination of hazards in line with the methodology of CDM for all projects (CDM notifiable or not)

Experience and Qualification

·Demonstrable experience in estimating multi discipline HV & LV electrical projects

·Experience in the use of estimating software

·Experience in electrical installation Industrial & commercial projects

·Knowledge of two stage tenders

·Will hold a formal qualification related to Electrical Engineering or Electrical Estimating discipline

·Must have knowledge of HV & LV installations and switchgear

·Ability to read and understand construction drawings and design specifications

·Understanding of the planning and sequencing of construction of projects

·Understanding of the process of procuring Subcontractors or suppliers

·Ability to compile information for submission to clients

·Ability to work with external engineering organisations as well as customers/stakeholders representing the company to best effect

·Must have strong team working ethic and customer focus
