Salary: £26,000 per year

V-Recruit are excited to be working in partnership with one of the UKs most forward thinking, recognised and respected Multi-Academy Trusts to recruit a Temporary Caretaker/Premises Assistant for one of their Secondary academies, based in Wakefield WF1.

This is a temporary role until the end of January/mid February in the first instance, with a potential to be extended. The applicant will also be able to apply for the permanent position within the school.

20 hours per week ideally, 10am-2pm. Some flexibility available if required i.e. longer days, 3 days per week.

£26,000 per year, plus accrued holiday pay

Your main duties will be to ensure the provision of a high-quality environment for the students and staff, in all areas of the school and grounds. This will include:

– Assisting the site manager and site supervisor with their duties as required

– Helping with student supervising/cleaning duties at break and lunch times

– Inspecting and tidying student and staff toilets

– Checking and emptying bins around the school and dining room

– Check stairwells and corridors throughout the day

– Removing litter and obstructions from any internal areas of the building

– Checking and cleaning the staffroom, including the filling of the dishwasher at an appropriate time of the day

– Carrying out a break and lunchtime duty to include checking of toilets, corridors and stairwells

– Delivering cleaning stock to the technicians

– Reporting any damages or safety issues to the site manager/site supervisors

– Reporting any calls of spillages to the site manager/site supervisors

– Helping unloading deliveries where required

– Ensuring the correct weekly lunchtime menus are on display in the dining hall at the beginning of the week and changed on a daily basis

– Checking main entrance for litter/leaves each morning

Some additional cleaning duties may be required, alongside the dedicated cleaning team.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience Site Maintenance-related environment or a related with transferable skills. Training will be given by the Site Manager/Site Supervisors on the school-specifics of the role, so no school experience is essential.

The chosen candidate will be personable, confident, and professional and take pride in all aspects of their work. We are looking to recruit someone with energy and enthusiasm who will be able to work as an integral part of a busy and hardworking team. Of course, you will have to have excellent personal skills, as you will be working as part of the wider school staff-body ensuring the safeguarding and quality experience of all students.
