Junior Theatre Technician

Salary: £26,000 per year

Brighton College are seeking to point a Junior Theatre Technician to join our team. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you’ll earn a competitive Salary: £26,000per year, pro-rata (£20,000 full-time equivalent).

Key responsibilities of our Junior Theatre Technician:

– Assist in managing, maintaining and operating the College’s AV equipment across the College

– Assist with the delivery of all AV aspects for GCSE and A-level examination performances and assist on all College productions

– Provide technical support as required for academic drama and music lessons and other events taking place in the Performing Arts facilities

– Provide technical support to facilitate the smooth running of all College performances, assemblies, live events, Open Mornings, Options Evenings and taster events

– Providing technical support and advice as required for all users of AV and performing arts equipment across the College

– Adhere to the College’s health and safety requirements in handling AV and Performing Arts equipment

What we’re looking for in our Junior Theatre Technician:

– Experience in AV and/or Performing Arts technical support in a theatrical or educational setting

– Knowledge of lighting systems, lighting control apparatus, lighting equipment and its maintenance, refurbishment and use

– An interest and passion for working in the technical aspects of Performing Arts

– Knowledge of audio and audio-visual equipment and its use as it relates to both live, recorded and playback techniques, its maintenance and refurbishment

– Strong IT skills

– Experience in aspects of live performance and events

Hours: 8.75 hours per day working from 8am to 4.45pm Monday to Friday inclusive with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required, for which time in lieu will be given. The postholder will work term-time plus three weeks in the school holidays (a total of 38 weeks per year) as directed by the line manager
