Our client is recognized as one of the UK’s market leaders in the area of automated materials handling solutions, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing program of strategic growth, they are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Systems Engineer to design, develop and test computer software for warehouse management and control systems based on a range of bespoke in house WMS products and working as part of an established and highly successful team.

Reporting to the Systems Project Manager, the successful candidate will be tasked with developing software in line with system and module design documentation produced for multiple projects, using agreed company standards to ensure that work can be easily understood, checked, and maintained by others, whilst carrying out unit testing to ensure that the software performs as per the design and according to company standards with respect to screen layouts, behaviour etc.

You will develop software within the time specified, or provide early feedback where this is not possible, and will use your experience gained on previous projects and in previous companies to challenge design where there is a more appropriate solution, using the agreed change control mechanism to do so. You will use the proprietary logging system (currently “Bugzilla”) to report upon faults in core package software as well as the company development tools and computer systems provided for your role, and will additionally provide support to the client/commissioning team during early life and assist with software build deliveries to test and site environments.

You will be flexible to undertake trips to client premises when required and comfortable in working within a pressurised customer focussed environment in which you will be assess on your ability to deliver software to required timescales, as well as the actual software quality and number of faults found during functional, beta and acceptance testing as well as your ability to contribute to the overall project success, and your ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team is essential for success in this position, liaising with Systems Architects and Senior Systems Engineers on a given project when required.
