Position: Senior Family Support Worker
Location: Hackney, London
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £30,678 – £33,376per annum inclusive of ILW
About the role:
Family Action is delighted to be recruiting for their new Hackney Schools` Family Service Pilot funded by City and Hackney CCG. The service will run until 31st of March 2016 initially in the following local secondary schools: Stoke Newington, Cardinal Pole, Clapton Girls, Urswick, Our Lady`s and Petchley. It will provide a Tier 1 / 2 Mental Health Service with a whole family emphasis to improve children and young people`s attendance and educational attainment, enjoyment of school life, self-esteem, safety in and outside of school and their ability to form positive, trusting relationships.
The service will also engage schools in a Borough wide dialogue about the necessity to address young people`s mental health as a joint venture and will have a full evaluation built into the pilot in order to determine improvement in outcomes as well as to identify which system interventions lead to these improvements.
This is a brand new team for this exciting Pilot service and they are looking to recruit the Senior Family Support Worker.
The successful candidate will be allocated a designated school in the Pilot and you will:
– Provide individual and group support for school aged children and young people experiencing emotional or mental health related difficulties, and their families, within the home environment and school setting.
– Promote the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people.
– Provide early intervention, before difficulties escalate resulting in exclusion, offending, and more acute or clinical mental health difficulties.
– Deliver a family support model which promotes joined up, holistic support for the whole family.
About you:
They are looking for experienced Senior Family Support Workers for their new Hackney Schools` Family Service. You will have experience of working with schools as well as an excellent understanding of mental health issues and importance of developing mental health resilience in order to enhance life skills. You will be educated to degree or hold an equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, such as: health, social care, education, psychology or psychotherapy.
You must share their commitment to working collaboratively with families, building on their strengths, whilst keeping a focus on the needs of children.
