Maintenance Engineer
Based in Bedfordshire
Salary: Commensurate with Experience
Shift Pattern: 3pm – Midnight – Monday to Friday
The Maintenance Engineer is one of a team of three engineers on site, supporting the planned preventative maintenance and breakdown of factory equipment and machinery. Working with contractors and specialist equipment suppliers to ensure maximum capacity to reduce machine downtime and cycle times.
Key Duties:
· Cover multiple shifts as required, Early, day & Backshift
· Carry out routine scheduled maintenance work and respond to emergencies, unplanned challenges and repairs
· Respond with urgency to all breakdowns and diagnose breakdown problems
· Make recommendations to reduce machine downtime and cycle times
· Fit new parts and ensure equipment is working efficiently and safely
· Escalate machine breakdowns to appropriate managers if not resolved within agreed timescales
· Research suitable solutions and estimate costs and timescales for machine and equipment breakdowns and improvements
· Arrange procurement of parts and components relating, but not limited to machines and equipment
· Control maintenance tools, stores and equipment
· Work with specialist equipment and suppliers, to support our machines and equipment
· Liaise and work with contractors to carry out planned maintenance and breakdowns · Assist with the installation of new equipment as required
· Read design specifications and technical drawings
· Record, analyse and interpret data for planned maintenance and OEE measures from downtime records
· Liaise and communicate with all departments, customers and other engineering and production functions, attend meetings on site as required
· Maintain general housekeeping and safe working area.
· Performs other duties including, but not limited to all facilities related tasks and work on special projects as required or assigned by the Facilities Manager or Operations Manager
· Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
· Qualified to ONC Mechanical Engineering supported by formal apprenticeship training
· Qualified to Electrical 17th Edition. (Electrical Engineer only)
· 5 years or more relevant experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
For EU roles, candidates must be eligible to work and live in the European Union.
