Salary: £37,200 – £38,400 per year

Main Purpose of Job:
Setting, operating and programming of Lathes, inspection of finished components to meet customer specifications
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Programming, Setting and Operating of Fanuc, Siemens, Okuma, Mazatrol and similar systems with live tooling
* Editing of new and existing programmes
* Working closely with the Applications engineer for tooling and CAD/CAM support, Receiving a program and loading into the Control.
* Reading through the program and understanding the various G & M codes and where they should be used.
* Adding in probing cycles to set machine and part Dutums.
* Calculating the offsets to correctly position the part.
* Adjusting Feeds, speeds and depths of cut to suit the material being machined.
* Setting appropriate Tool Life constraints to get the best out of the consumables.
* Advising on types of tooling and fixturing to assist the Apps Engineer in programming.
* Copy and Pasting between programs.
* Building new tools, measuring them and adding them to the machine, both physically and in the machine’s control.
* Setting the machine and tombstone for lights out running where possible
* Hand finishing/cleaning of components where necessary
* Final inspection of components, maintaining and owning the quality of the products machined
* Following and maintaining all documentation standards required
* Working to very fine tolerances within a Six Sigma environment
* Working to production schedules to meet output requirements
* Carrying out planned safety checks of the equipment
Skills and Experience
* Experience of Okuma OSP, Mazatrol or Fanuc controller a distinct advantage
* A strong understand of Turning and basic Milling techniques
* Experience in a low to medium volume, high tolerance production environment
* Ideally, a time-served apprentice with 2-3 years’ experience in a similar environment
* Experience in working with Nickel Alloys
* Precision engineering or tool making background
* Experience of operating Mitutoyo CMM an advantage
* Use of a range of measuring equipment, micrometres, Height Gauge etc
* Willingness and ability to adapt to company manufacturing procedures
