Key Stage Two (Ks2) Planning, Preparation and Assessment (PPA) Teacher

We are currently recruiting a full-time Key Stage Two (KS2) teacher to cover Planning, Preparation and Assessment (PPA) in January 2015 for a term initially. The successful teacher must be confident in teaching Upper Key Stage Two (KS2) and has the ability to implement a variety of positive behaviour management strategies in the classroom.This is a varied role and will require an element of versatility and flexibility, as you will be in a variety of classes from Year 4 to Year 6.The school are keen to maintain the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom, therefore it is important that the teacher forges positive working relationships with existing staff members.

The successful candidate will have a secure knowledge of the Key Stage Two Curriculum 2008, in core and foundation subjects. However, this school has a high proportion of pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL) therefore the teacher must adopt a creative approach to engage all pupils. They will have to “think outside of the box” when planning lessons and draw upon a variety of resources (Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic) to develop their language skills.

Typical duties of a supply Primary Key Stage 2 Teacher
Teach all areas of the key stage 2 curriculum;
Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment;
Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for the needs for all student ability ranges;
Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation;
Maintain discipline;
Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development;
Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area;
Staying up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum;
Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening;
Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
